BELOW ARE OUR STRAYS THAT HAVE ARRIVED AT THE SHELTER WAITING FOR ADOPTION!!

WE HAVE KITTENS AVAILABLE!!!

Although AFOC may have puppies and kittens available for adoption, we encourage all potential adopters to consider the rewards of adopting an adult animal. Many young adult animals are full of energy and youthfulness yet beyond the early stages of housebreaking and chewing. Many middle age animals can provide wonderful companionship without the demands of early training. Evidence shows that adult animals are able to bond with a new adoptive family that provides a secure, loving environment. Some adjustment is always needed when a pet is taken to a new home, but can be facilitated by knowing the animal may be already house trained, respects certain rules and may even be happy to demonstrate the tricks it learned in its previous home. Discovering these little personality traits can be so much fun and ever so rewarding. Adopters are encouraged to speak to AFOC about the availability of adult animals. Our number is 860-827-0381.

Michele has had a set of kittens. They all have found homes. Michele has been waiting a long time and is hoping she will find hers.

Marty is a Long Hair friendly fellow who was found in East Hartford.

Stella is a sweet petite tiger who is friendly and playful.

Hannah and her three sisters were abandoned on the porch of a business. When the owner came to work in the morning, he found the four of them, terrified, in a box. The man called us, and we brought them to our shelter after we were sure they were healthy. One of the kittens was adopted very quickly. The three others, Hannah, Hayley and Heidi, remain available. She is about 8 months old and has had all her shots and has been spayed. After some initial shyness, she is very friendly with people. She purrs all the time and likes to be held and petted. She prefers a quiet environment, so a home with children is probably not appropriate. One of her favorite activities is looking out the window, bird watching. The three girls are very attached to each other, so it would be good if they could be adopted together. But any one of them would make an excellent pet in their forever home.

Hayley was found with Hannah and Heidi. They were all are very frightened. They are now safe and warming up to the volunteers.

Heidi is the most shy of the three, but is friendly and does like to play with her toys.

He was rescued by a Good Samaritan. Sam had extensive injuries to his leg. He is such a grateful and lovable fellow.

Wink was one of three kittens thrown from a car in a bag. He was born 5-19-10. Wink had a severely damaged and nonfunctional right eye which was removed.  Wink takes a daily dose of L-Lysine to help support a healthy immune system. Wink will need ongoing monitoring of his remaining eye to ensure that it remains healthy and that he does not lose it.He is active and likes to play, but does not like confusion, noise or aggressive cats.

Cheyenne is friendly and will purr when you pet her.

Morgan has arrived with her sibling Rolo and is the more bashful of the two. Morgan was born the first week of June.

Joey a friendly fellow who really deserves a home. He has been waiting a long time.

Betsy is a friendly feline who is likes to be petted. She is definitely a lap cat.

Bessie is about 3 years old. She is declawed. Bessie has a hard time adjusting to a new environment. She needs an experienced adopted.

Her name is Rolo and she is Morgan’s sister. They both were born the first week of June.

Ace is a two-year old male grey tiger cat with striking markings.  He is large (about 13 pounds) and has a personality to match.  He is a total extrovert, very active, prefers people to animals, and greets you by flopping on the floor and preparing for a big welcoming head and ear scratch.  He has a very large purr motor. He loves everyone he meets, treats, playing in the bathtub with a ping pong ball, exploring (indoors only!) and being with you.

Jean Kelly is a one year old black and white girl who was born with significant neurological deficits in a litter of otherwise normal kittens.  The owner surrendered her to AFOC as a young kitten, in order for her to receive medical evaluation and treatment. As she grew and with good nutrition, her physical condition improved somewhat.  She no longer falls as she walks, and is less spastic than she once was.  However, although her limbs are still somewhat uncoordinated, she walks pretty well .She does not jump or climb on furniture at all. Jeannie is usually friendly and gets along with other non-aggressive cats.

Koko is as friendly as he is handsome. He is totally comfortable with people. He was born 12/15/10.

Dottie is a sweet girl who came to us ready to deliver kittens. Unfortunately they did survive. She is healthy and hoping for a home with love.

Hazard come to us as a kitten in July 2011 and is still waiting. He is a friendly fellow and would be a wonderful companion.
